A mala is a string of beads, like a prayer necklace. Traditionally it has 108 beads, which is a sacred number in many traditions—symbolizing wholeness, the cosmos, the rhythm of the breath. People use malas to keep track while repeating a mantra—a word or phrase that helps you focus and connect to something deeper, whether that’s love, peace, God, or simply presence. Each bead is like a step on a path. You say the mantra, feel it, and move to the next bead… and something begins to shift.
