The Freedom of Seeing: Joy, Vulnerability, and the Light Within
Thank you for joining me today under the branches of the Tree of Serendipity... and a deep bow to all the courageous luminaries who dare to share their light. This morning began with Brené Brown’s reflection on vulnerability: that among all emotions, joy is the most vulnerable to express. That truth landed in me like a key turning in a long-awaited lock. Why is it sometimes so hard to let ourselves be seen in joy—to sing, to dance, to shine freely?
And then—ta-da! Our Random Book Selection presents: The Practice of the Yoga Sutra: Sadhana Pada by Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, page 146, Yoga Sutra 2:25
“From the absence of that [avidya] comes the absence of mingling of consciousness with our mind. That freedom is the absolute state of the power of seeing.”
This sutra reminds us that our true Self is the seer—pure, luminous awareness untouched by conditioning. When we identify with the mind—our samskaras, fears, and old stories—we forget our inherent joy. But when ignorance (avidya) dissolves, what remains is the radiant clarity of kaivalyam, freedom itself.
In today’s episode, I explore how joy arises naturally when we no longer confuse our essence with the mind’s noise. Vulnerability, then, becomes not weakness but the gateway to divine seeing—the courage to be fully present, to let our light and love be witnessed.
Join me in remembering that our core being is pure luminosity, and that the practice of yoga—of seeing—invites us to live from that light.
May all beings be free. May all beings be loved & cherished. May all beings have a home & have friends. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!
