How to Play:

An Invitation to Tending the Inner and Outer Landscape

Welcome, Joy Gardener! 🐝
Here’s how to begin planting Seeds of Joy in your life — day by day, thought by thought, breath by breath.

🌱 1. Choose Your Seeds

Ask yourself gently:
What do I want to grow today?
It might be something simple like:

  • Harmony: How can I bring harmony to the world—this situation—this relationship

  • Peace: softening, listening and mindful breathing

  • Patience: a gentle affirmation to pause and wait

  • Creativity: writing, designing, cooking, music

  • Courage: even in the face of fear - I am true

  • Clarity: may I see the whole picture—the Truth

  • Forgiveness: may I find compassion and let go

  • Wonder: may I always find and be grateful

  • Boundless Joy: may all beings be happy

  • _______________

More complex seeds might be:

  • Launching a Business or Career

  • Finding a Romantic Partner

  • Being in Service—Volunteering

  • _______________

Seed = a single thought, feeling, or action that you wish to plant.
Write it down on a card, in your journal, or say it aloud.

_“Today, I plant the seed of _________.”

☀️ 2. Envision the Bloom

Just like a packet of watermelon seeds shows you a sweet, juicy fruit—
take a moment to envision what your seed will grow into.
What will it feel like when it blossoms?
What kind of energy will it bring into your day... and the world?

You might even draw it, sing it, or imagine how it would taste, sound, move.

💧 3. Water It With Care

Your seed needs attention!
Offer it:

  • A breath

  • A smile

  • A prayer

  • A small action that nourishes it

It could be as simple as:

"Today I’ll practice kindness by smiling at strangers.”
"I’ll write a note of gratitude."
"I’ll take a moment to rest and refill my cup."

🌿 4. Pull the Weeds

Ask yourself:

  • What takes energy instead of giving it?

  • What beliefs, habits, or distractions pull me away from this seed?

Gently name them. You don’t need to fix everything — just become aware.
Sometimes just recognizing the weeds helps them loosen their grip.

“Today, I release the weed of self-doubt.”
“I set a boundary around my quiet time.”
“I turn off distractions and return to presence.”

🛡️ 5. Protect Your Garden

Every healthy garden has a boundary—
a little fence to keep out what doesn’t belong.

Your protection might be:

  • A quiet morning

  • A tech-free hour

  • Saying “no” with love

  • Creating sacred space with candles, sound, or movement

You are worthy of protecting your joy.

🌺 6. Fertilize with Love

Want to give your seed a little extra boost?

Sing to it.
Bless it.
Dance it into the world.
Read poetry to your plants (or your heart).
Offer a mantra or whisper a prayer.

Your joy is holy. Your love is the miracle grow.

🌼 7. Watch What Grows

By the end of the day, or the end of the week—pause.
Reflect gently:

  • What blossomed?

  • What surprised me?

  • What did I learn about myself or life?

You might wish to place your Seed Cards in a jar or garden box and revisit them later as a collection of living treasures.

📖 Bonus: Make a Seed Journal

Create a space to record your:

  • Daily Seeds

  • Visions

  • Weeds

  • Wins

  • Prayers and Poems

This journal becomes a map of your growth, a living testimony to your joy-filled tending.

  • Treehouse Treasures is a delightful way to enhance and focus your day. I enjoy pulling a treasure and rediscovering a memory, a moment, a thought or person that brings me to joy and insight. I have added favorite quotes that remind me of what I value most and want to create in my life. Just the process of writing the treasures has an effect on my awareness. I highly recommend Treehouse Treasures.

  • As I record my experiences of love, of joy, gratitude or special awareness with the Treasure Practice it becomes a part of my life I want to remember that goes deep into a place of well being. It seems to add what feels like fuel or some kind of magnet of positive life force to produce more blessings. As I share my treasures with others an assuring surprise of synchronicity flows between us affirming even more the power of recognizing and honoring these treasures in our lives

There's a liberty in remembering the beauties through the practice and I'm very thankful for my treasure box. It helps breed daily an attitude of gratitude, which then permeates my whole existence.
